Adriana BAARSPUL (Amsterdam 1940)
Baarspul studied applied art in Amsterdam at the department of ceramic work forms. Between 1960 and 1964 she lived abroad and met ceramists from France, Denmark and Sweden. When she returned, she set up her own studio, where she worked alongside her job as a teacher. In her early days she produced recognizable spheres with warm brown tones and line decorations. Later she also made sculptures, armadillos, hedgehogs and owls with a humorous character. She also works with unconventional shapes. The decorations are applied by means of scribing, oxide glaze or modelling. Baarspul mainly gets its inspiration from nature.
