Annet Hiltermann was educated at the Art Academy Minerva in Groningen.
She lives and works in Groningen.
After completing her education, Annet Hiltermann left for New Zealand, where she lived in a tent for a number of years. She painted the landscape there, en plein air. Since then she has painted landscapes, although not so far away, but within Europe. She then paints during camping holidays of several weeks in spring, autumn and winter. Within the Netherlands she only painted the landscapes of Terschelling, according to Annet Hiltermann, so paradisiacal. The fact that Annet Hiltermann paints remote areas creates limitations in the material used. That is why she works with acrylic on paper and her work has rather small dimensions. The drying time of acrylic is short, and it is also a water-based paint, which is handy since water is often at hand.
