I, Antonio Poioumen (Ton van de Groep) am an artist at heart. Touched by the creator, I create with passion and compassion and great flexibility of mind. My work is proclamation, both prophetic and educational.
Prophetic; in an age of individualism, where the massive search for happiness is accompanied by monotonous advice from all kinds of "isms", my work is an undisguised signpost to the greater.
The work is instructive by not immediately overwhelming the viewer with an avalanche of empty and dogmatic answers, but by provoking the right questions.
My work is not a one-way street but a dialogue with the viewer who is challenged to enter into an honest struggle with the questions raised.
I have achieved my goal through this communication.
The canvases are sometimes intertwined with matter, but cannot be placed exclusively under this heading. The term is too banal, the work goes further and deeper.
The matter is no more than paint in a different form to expose an emotion.
