Arie-Kees van Noort (1914-2003)
Arie-Kees van Noort was born on March 8, 1914 in Bennebroek. After his school days in 1928 he worked in his father's painting company. In the evenings he took drawing and painting lessons from the eccentric Haarlem painter Henri Fr_deric Boot, who also developed great artists such as Kees Verwey and Anton Heijboer under his teachership. During the day Van Noort worked as a house painter and in the evenings he painted in his room. Although beach views and, to a somewhat lesser extent, flower bulb fields form the main part of his work, he also paints cityscapes, landscapes and still lifes.
