Arie TEUWISSE (Amsterdam 1919 - Uffelte 1993)
Teeuwisse was educated from 1936 to 1940 at the Institute for Applied Arts Education in Amsterdam, where he was taught by Jaap Kaas. He then started training at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Here he was taught by Jan Bronner. He had to discontinue this training in 1943, after which he went into hiding above the bear enclosures in Artis.
Teeuwisse is best known for its animal and human figures. From 1963 to 1982, Teeuwisse taught sculpture at the Academy of Visual Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam.
