Barend van Hoek is best known for his work with girls and women as the main subject. Girls from everyday life are depicted, often scantily clad. The people Barend van Hoek draws and paints are given a cartoon-like style, and the girls in most cases wear sturdy shoes. The works of Barend van Hoek are made on large canvases, which give you the feeling that the people depicted are really lifelike.
Besides drawing and painting, Barend van Hoek also writes lyrics for his own band Space Tractor.
