Berend Hendriks (1918-1997)
After his education at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten, where he was taught by Heinrich Campendonk, among others, Berend Hendriks (Apeldoorn, 1918 - Arnhem 1997) developed into a versatile artist: painter, glass painter, wall painter, monumental artist, environmental artist, sculptor, ceramist and maker of moza_ek. His paintings are characterized by geometric shapes, using mathematical sequences, both in terms of content and color. Hendriks was a teacher at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem, where he stimulated the development of environmental art together with Peter Struycken. Hendriks' work in public space can be found in Amersfoort, Gouda and Hengelo, among others.
