Bertel GARDBERG (Ekenas 1916- Karis 2007)
Bertel Gardberg was known as a designer and silversmith of timeless and perfectionist designs. After graduating, he set up his own studio in Helsinki in 1949, where he designed silverware. Here he has carried out assignments for, among others, Fiskars and Hackman. From 1966 to 1971, Gardberg lived in Dublin, where he wanted to revive the decorative arts by promoting craft. On his return to Finland, he set up a new studio of his own in Pohja. Here too he worked for Fiskars on assignment. Many of his designs consist of domestic production that are extremely suitable for industrial production.
