Carl Lion Cachet was a versatile artist, but mainly became known as a designer of applied arts and (ship) interiors. Around the end of the nineteenth century he was active as an art teacher at various institutions in Amsterdam. Subsequently, he developed in various arts and techniques, such as printmaking and graphic design, glass, ceramics, batik, decorative design, wood engraving and furniture design. Lion Cachet has worked for several manufacturers. For example, for the Sphinx in Maastricht he made commemorative plates and in Leerdam he designed tile floors for Graniver. In addition, Lion Cachet was one of the founders of Wendingen, the spokesperson for the Amsterdam School.
