Education: Sint Lucas Visual Arts in Ghent from 1941-1948. Higher Institute of Fine Arts (HISK) in Antwerp from 1951-1954.
Worked in Ghent, Antwerp, Italy, Bruges and Liège, among others
Dan Van Severen's work focuses on geometric abstract forms and belongs to the 'Minimal Art' movement. Van Severen was a member of the 'Nieuwe Vlaamse School' (1960), in which, together with other Belgian artists such as Jef Verheyen and Guy Vandenbranden, he strived for his own Flemish Modernism. From 1971 to 1992 Dan Van Severen taught at the Sint Lucas Visual Arts in Ghent.
