Education:
Bruna was born as the second son of the publisher AW Bruna and JCC Erdbrink. It was the intention that Dick Bruna would take over the company from his father and grandfather. To prepare for this, Dick Bruna moved for a while to London and Paris, where he visited many museums and decided to become an artist. Bruna only attended classes at the Amsterdam art academy for a short time.
Dick Bruna lives and works in Utrecht, he still cycles to his studio every day.
Dick Bruna started designing book covers for the well-known Zwarte Beertjes series and for Dutch writers. Dick Bruna also designed numerous posters. Miffy is his best-known creation of his children's books, which made him world famous. The Miffy books are about events in the world of young children. His books by Miffy have been translated into more than 50 languages, and Miffy became the main character in successful children's musicals.

Dick Bruna has had numerous exhibitions devoted to his work and has been awarded many times.
He was awarded the Zilveren Griffel and the Gouden Penseel.
In 2007 he received the Golden Medal from the city of Utrecht.
