Edvin ÖHRSTRÖM (Burlöv 1906 - Burlöv 1994)
Glass designer Edvin Öhrström received various training courses, including in Stockholm and Paris. From 1936 he worked at Orrefors and set up his own studio, where he worked as an independent glass designer. At Orrefors, he applied soft, organic shapes and developed a new glass technique, in which a ribbed pattern was applied to the inside. Against his expectations, the objects did not become a commercial success and he was only able to make a few. Later, Öhrström developed a new glass technique for the second time. He called this Ariel and consisted of figuratively formed air bubbles between different layers of glass. His products were generally intended for domestic use. In 1956 Öhrström left Orrefors, but continued to work as an independent glass designer.
