Evert PIETERS (Amsterdam 1856 - Laren 1932)
Evert Pieters was a Dutch etcher, draftsman, painter who belonged to the Larense School. Pieters was trained as a house painter in his young life and later took lessons in the evenings at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He stayed in Paris and Barbizon where he painted still lifes and landscapes in an old Dutch way. Later he moved to Blaricum, where he started painting interiors in the way of the Larensche School. However, he was seen as Flemish and not fully accepted by the other Gooische painters. After a period in Italy, he eventually settled in Laren, where he painted interiors again, but lighter than in his Blaricum period. Works by Evert Pieters can be found in museums in Antwerp, Haarlem, Hilversum, Laren, Amsterdam and Barcelona.
