Ferry BERTHOLET Painter, writer, collector and restorer Ferry Bertholet was born in 1952 and studied from 1970 to 1976 at the State Academy of Art in Amsterdam. Bertholet has traveled the world since 1978 and visited Asia in particular frequently. He is known as an expert on Japanese prints, Chinese erotic art, the art of opium and historical photographs from China. He has written six art books on these subjects in various languages. In addition to figurative painting, he has specialized in making calligraphy on paper. Works by Bertholet can be found in the Rijkskunst collection and the collection of the Gemeentemuseum Amsterdam, among others.
