Fiona TAN (Pakanbaru, Indonesia, b. 1966)


Biography/ Education
Tan was born in Indonesia, but was educated in Amsterdam. She studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Since 1997, Tan's work has been shown in various exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad. Tan is best known for her video and film installations, which focus on explorations of memory, time, history and the role of visual images.

Exhibitions
Tan's work has been exhibited at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam (2022-23), De Pont Museum in Tilburg (2017) and the MAXXI in Rome (2013-14), among others. Tan also represented the Netherlands at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009 with her solo presentation Disorient .
