Fiskars was set up as an ironworks in 1649 by merchant Peter Thorwöste, but from 1830 utensils such as pans, knives and scissors are also produced. Fiskars products are known for their easy, safe and above all comfortable design, innovation is always paramount. For that reason, many different products have been designed over the years. Fiskars is the oldest industrial company in Finland and it attracts a large audience. In the summer months there are regular exhibitions that attract many visitors. Together with other major brands such as Iittala, Royal Copenhagen, Wedgwood, Arabia and Rörstrand, Fiskars falls under the Fiskars Group. The company produced, among other things, the well-known O-series scissors with orange handles in 1962. The design came from Olof Bäckström.
