Education:
Geertjan van Oostende was educated from 1961 to 1964 at the Applied Arts School in Amsterdam; Ab Sok taught him the graphic arts there.
He lives and works in Nijmegen.
Geertjan van Oostende is known for his enormous passion for collecting, which he has had since he started his art education. Memories are attached to the objects in his collection; they give him order and peace. Moreover, the past of his collection gives him inspiration for the future. Van Oostende's art is therefore characterized by a connection with daily life, which always forms the basis of his work.
Exhibitions and prizes:
The work of Geertjan van Oostende has been exhibited in several Dutch galleries and museums, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The Rijksmuseum has a number of his works in its collection.
