Lives and works in Breda since 1976. Henk Koolen writes the following on his website: "My way of working is expressionistic and impulsive. It is the result of memories, of words and experiences. What connects the works is the pursuit of the fragmentary, the chaos, the intangible of the world. I don't want to give answers, but evoke an atmosphere of desire, emptiness and space. It's not about answers, but about the structure of the image."
