Jaap Min (Bergen (NH), September 16, 1914 - October 6, 1987) was a Dutch expressionist painter. At the encouragement of the painter Matthieu Wiegman, Jaap Min started his training for monumental art at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 1938 under the guidance of Johannes Hendricus Jurres and Heinrich Campendonk. A year later in 1939 he made a study trip to Padua and Verona where he became acquainted with the work of Massimo Campigli and Giotto, which had a major influence on his own work for the rest of his life. assignments in Limburg, he was a teacher at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht from 1955 to 1961. However, it was not his happiest period and driven by homesickness he returned to Bergen in 1961. Here he continued to work steadily until his death on numerous commissions and free work.
