Artist

Johannes Coenraad (Jan) BLEIJS or BLEYS was born in 1868 in Hoorn. He lived and worked in Hoorn, Amsterdam and Bergen. Like his brother Adrianus, he was a student of his father Adrianus Cyriacus Bleijs. Throughout his life he devoted himself to patsels and portraits. He drew portraits for De Telegraaf for many years. In 1952 he died in Bergen. included in the collection of the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
