Johan CLAASSEN (Beek en Donk 1943 - Bakel 2023)
Education: Johan Claassen trained from 1963 to 1966 at the free department of the Academy for Art and Industry in Enschede.
Johan Claassen often allows external factors to have a determining influence on his art. Things he finds in a certain place, for example in an abandoned factory, or natural elements, such as the wind, then form the basis for the work. This adds a wink to the melancholic tone that Claassen's work often has. In addition to his own artistry, Claassen has taught at the Minerva Academy in Groningen and St. Joost in Den Bosch, among others.

Johan Claassen's work has been exhibited in various Dutch galleries and at several fairs. His work has also been included in a number of museums, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
