Karel Wiggers (1916-1989)
Karel Hendrik Wiggers was born on October 13, 1916 in The Hague and also died in this city in 1989. Wiggers was educated at the Royal Academy in The Hague, where he taught among others Sierk Schr_der (1903-2002). He later studied at the academy in Munich, where Constantin Gerhardinger (1888-1970) was one of his teachers. Despite his time abroad, Wiggers lived and worked in his hometown for most of his life. Between 1944 and 1969 he was a member of the Sint Lucas artists' society in Amsterdam and between 1969 and 1977 of the Haagse Kunstkring and the Schilderkundig Genootschap Pulchri Studio in The Hague. Wiggers took part in various exhibitions in the Netherlands, including in the Haags Gemeentemuseum and Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
