Koos van der SLUYS (Utrecht 1920 - Utrecht 2005)
Van der Sluys is an artist and designer, trained at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam. After completing this training in 1945, he started working at Westraven in Utrecht. There he is appointed as head of and designer in the relief tiles department. One of the tiles he introduced is the chanoir tile: a tile with a plain and often white background with a stylized figure in a contrasting colour, often black.
