Leslie Smith (1948)

Leslie Smith (1948)

Leslie Smith (London 1948). His paintings and lithographs belong to the movement of Magic Realism. Smith studied Fine Arts at Hornsey College of Art and Maidstone College in Kent, followed by a Masters Degree in Fine Art at the Royal Academy Schools in London (1972-1975). In this period the first paintings around the theme 'garden painting' were created, which laid the first foundation for his later works. Leslie Smith subsequently exhibited in several galleries and also regularly in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. In 1980 he had a solo exhibition at the King Street Gallery, showing a series of fantasy gardens. Exhibitions followed in Douwes Fine Art in London (1987) and Amsterdam (1994). The works on display now took actual gardens as their subject. (National Trust Gardens and Dutch Country Houses and Gardens). Since 1997, Leslie Smith has had several exhibitions in Galerie Renoir in Maastricht, Douwes Fine Art and the PAN exhibitions in Amsterdam. In recent years, the artist has worked directly for private clients.
