Count Leo Tolstoy (also known as Leo Tolstoy) was a Russian philosopher, Christian anarchist, pacifist, practitioner of social philosophy, and writer of primarily novels and short stories. He is best known for his realistic novels War and Peace (1869) and Anna Karenina (1877), which are considered two of the finest works of world literature. Leo Tolstoy's religious and social ideas had a significant influence on the further development of Christian anarchism and pacifism. Tolstoy was nominated four times for the Nobel Prize for Literature (1902, 1903, 1904, and 1905).
