Lies Cosijn is considered one of the greatest ceramic artists in our country. She was born in Indonesia, but moved to the Netherlands at the age of 15, where she went to live in Petten, among other places. Her interest was mainly in classical archaeology, mythologies and figures who are victims of other people. Her works, all of which are hand-sculpted, consist of human and animal figures that occasionally show humor. In some cases she also depicted cities, towers and stones. Cosijn was not only involved in small-scale ceramics, but also produced wall decorations and monumental sculptures.
