Louise Jacoba van Essen showed an exceptional talent for painting and drawing at a young age. That is why, at the age of 18, she was allowed to take lessons with the Hague painter REJ Scheurleer and later with Simon van den Berg. In her work the emphasis is on landscapes and flower still lifes, which are characterized by a beautiful use of color. After her marriage to A. Stuiveling she lived and worked successively in The Hague, Amersfoort, Appingedam and Laren, where she died in 1936. Museums: ao Goois Museum in Hilversum.
