Margot van de STOLPE (Amsterdam 1957)
Margot van de Stolpe graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and had her own graphic design studio. She also made monumental designs and murals. In recent decades, she has focused more on making autonomous work and has become co-director of Tropism Art & Science Collective, a foundation and art movement whose artists are inspired by nature and science in their work. For Margot, the structures and patterns in nature and the plant world are her most important source of inspiration. Her art mainly consists of staged photography, photograms, graphics and collages in which a new perception of reality is depicted. She places layer upon layer, in which chance plays a major role. Rhythm, mirroring and reflection are characteristic aspects of her work.
