Michel SZULC-KRZYZANOWSKI (Oosterhout 1949)
After Michel Krzyzanowski graduated in 1970, he started photography independently. His work can be divided into two groups. On the one hand, he makes artistic-conceptual photos that are exhibited in museums and galleries. On the other hand, he makes social documentary photography in the form of photo projects.
Until 1985, Michel Szulc-Krzyzanowski worked on his black-and-white sequences in Europe, North Africa, the United States and, above all, Mexico. From 1995 to 2000, he again worked on the VISTA. series at the former sequence locations in Mexico. In 2000 he moved his base from the Netherlands to Spain and worked in the Parc Natural Cabo de Creus on the Punta Prima series. In 2005 he moved on to live and work without a permanent place of residence.
Since then, he has worked in various locations worldwide, but regularly spends longer periods in his motorhomes in Mexico. There he now mainly works on completely new conceptual photography at the same location, Punta Marquez, where he started his sequences in 1979. In addition to his artistic-conceptual photography and social-documentary photography, he also makes stock photography. This is distributed through photo agencies and used by newspapers, magazines and other publications.
Michel Krzyzanowski was educated at the St. Joost Academy in Breda and the Royal Academy of Art and Design in 's Hertogenbosch. He lives and works everywhere and nowhere, but his home port at the moment is Mexico.
