Born in Dordrecht in 1907, Died in 1995 in Laren

Otto de Kat was a painter who was influenced by the Haarlem School and the Fauvism of Matisse. He was educated at the School of Arts and Crafts in Haarlem, the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam (now Rietveld Academy) and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Brussels.

De Kat mainly made figures in interiors, portraits and landscapes in a style that is characteristic of him. He was also a teacher at the Rijksacademie and founder of the Nederlandse Aquarellistenkring.

Otto de Kat also made 2 covers for the well-known magazine ?De Wendingen? in 1927 and 1931.

Otto de Kat's work can be found in many museum, corporate and private collections, including the National Collection.
