Patrick CREYGHTON (Nijmegen, 1934) took his first painting lessons with Jean Adams in Nunhem. After training in drawing, painting and composition at the Applied Arts School in Maastricht (1952 – 1956), he studied for a few more years at the Jan van Eyck Academy (1958 – 1960). Creyghton left the academy to further develop his own style, which he called 'drawing painting'.
Many of his paintings are the result of observations of landscapes along the Maas and the South Limburg hills, gnarled orchards and trees full of blossom. With his technique he depicts a winter landscape, a tree or a field bouquet with almost photographic accuracy.
