Paul MORCHAIN (Rochefort-sur-Mer 1876 - Rochefort-sur-Mer 1939)


Paul Morchain studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was appointed Peintre Officiel de la Marine in 1921. He specialized in maritime scenes, fishing ports, and Brittany scenes, rendered in an impressionist style with an emphasis on light and atmosphere. His work won awards at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he exhibited regularly from 1907 onward. In 1932, he participated in the Olympic art competition. His paintings are held in museums including the Musée National de la Marine and regional museums in Bordeaux, Rochefort, and Douarnenez.
