Pottery and Tile Bakery DE DISTEL (Amsterdam 1895 - Amsterdam 1923)
Founded in 1895 by Jacobus M. Lob. De Distel became known for the pottery with the matt white glaze with the internationally acclaimed glaze decorations by Bert Nienhuis. Together with Klaas Vet, the most important people who were responsible for the success of De Distel. In 1911 Bert Nienhuis left De Distel and Willem van Norden was given the artistic direction. In 1923 De Distel was sold to Earthenware Factory Goedewaagen.
