Robert NIX (Indonesia 1925 - Amsterdam 2017)
Robert Nix was a graphic designer, typographer, illustrator and draftsman.
He was born in what was then the Dutch East Indies. After Indonesia's independence, he returned to the Netherlands with his family. He followed courses in the Netherlands at the Graphic School and the Applied Arts School, later the Rietveld Academy, which he paid for with a job as a window dresser at De Bijenkorf.
In 1955 he became a designer at record producer Bovema in Haarlem. He made record covers for, among others, Johnny Jordaan, Toon Hermans, Fons Jansen and Gilbert Bécaud. Later he worked for various publishers and designed the covers of thousands of books, by Gerard Reve, Remco Campert, Jan Wolkers and Harry Mulisch, among others, and provided them with illustrations. He also taught at the art academies of Kampen and Arnhem.
