Ru van ROSSEM (Amsterdam 1924 - Tilburg 2007)
Van Rossem's etchings are time and again the result of a search for 'the correct and compelling material form'. Like an alchemist, he experimented with the etching technique, developing new, personal proc_d_s
In the mid-eighties, Ru van Rossum decided to leave teaching behind and focus entirely on his art. For van Rossem, a multitude of cultures was an enormous source of inspiration. Van Rossem therefore always continued to delve into this and had a great deal of admiration for it, especially for Eastern cultures.
Animals, strength and dynamics are also another central theme that is displayed in a special way. Ru van Rossem also decided to start sculpting, because the shapes could practically come to life in 3D.
Ru van Rossem was educated at the national institute, training for art teachers in Amsterdam.
