Simon Willem Maris (The Hague, May 12, 1873 - Amsterdam, January 22, 1935) was a Dutch painter. Maris was the son and student of the painter Willem Maris. He lived and worked successively in The Hague, Weesp, Antwerp (after 1895), Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris (after 1902). He studied 2.5 years at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, 2 years at the Academy of Visual Arts in Antwerp, made a one-year study trip to Paris and a study trip to Italy. He painted, drew and etched figures (particularly women) and portraits and taught NFH Cevat, MR Jacobson, E. van Mastricht. His work is present in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Municipal Museum in Arnhem, the Drents Museum in Assen and the University Museum in Groningen.
