Slavomir MILETIĆ (Sanski Most 1930 - Amsterdam 2022)


He attended the art academy in Belgrade and subsequently studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He settled in the Netherlands in 1960, where he focused on monumental sculpture in a raw, expressive style. He became known for his sculpture "The Woodworker," which was initially controversial and only gained a permanent place in Zaandam decades later. His work is socially engaged and often focuses on workers and social issues. In addition to independent work, he also created commissioned sculptures, including temporary and public installations. He remained active well into his later years and preferred working with concrete and bronze.
