Theodoor Heynes (Kaag, 7 April 1920 - Amsterdam, 1 August 1990) was a Dutch painter, watercolorist, draftsman and etcher.Life and work[edit]Theodoor Heynes initially learned figure drawing at the Leiden painting academy Ars Aemula Naturae. Theodoor Heynes then studied at the State Academy of Art in Amsterdam. He was a student of G_ R_ling and Willem van den Berg. From 1940 to 1942 he was a student of the Drawing Department and from 1942 to 1947 of the Free Painting Department. He made study trips to France (Brittany) and lived and worked in Sweden from 1947 to 1953 (including _land, Sm_land and Stockholm). From 1953 he lived with his family in Amsterdam. From 1960, Theodoor Heynes increasingly focused on watercolors, drawings and etchings and his work gradually became figurative abstract. Subjects of his work include landscape, city, harbor, cattle, still life, portrait, figure and nude.Membership, prizes and collections[edit]Theodoor Heynes was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam, the Dutch Circle of Drawing Artists, the Hollandse Aquarellisten Circle and The Hague Watercolourists. He won the Arti Medal in 1964 and the Jeanne Oosting Prize in 1971. Work by Theodoor Heynes was purchased by the government, by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, by the Henriette Polak Museum in Zutphen, the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar and the Maassluis Museum.
