Painter, draftsman, musician.
Education: In 1997 Tommy Raaijmakers is admitted to the art academy in 's-Hertogenbosch. For fear of being robbed of his authenticity, he decides on second thought not to start the training.
Tommy Raaijmakers is originally a musician, but has focused entirely on visual art since 1994.
As a cartoonist Tommy Raaijmakers draws from 2001 to 2003 for the Moroccan-Dutch magazine Mzine and from 2003 to 2011 for Het Brabants Dagblad.
In 2003 Tommy Raaijmakers submitted a plan to the municipality in his hometown of Waalwijk to set up a creative breeding ground for young artists. The project can best be described as a contemporary polder version of Andy Warhol's Factory and is followed with interest by the media. Although the policymakers are enthusiastic, realization is not easy. In April 2006, the green light followed and the municipality of Waalwijk made a large industrial hall of 1600 m2 and more than € 200,000 available to implement the plan. The artist has his studio here until 2010.
At the 2007 Artist of the Year election, Tommy Raaijmakers received an honorable mention as one of the 25 most nominated non-nominated artists.
Tommy Raaijmakers mainly works on large format paper or canvas with paint, aerosol, paint markers and oil chalk.
