Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983)

Vicke LINDSTRAND (Gothenburg 1904 - Smaland 1983)

In 1927 Vicke Lindstrand completed his Graphic Design studies in Gothenburg, after which he started working for the Orrefors glass factory in 1928. There he designed glassware with classical shapes and engraved, figurative motifs based on the Art Deco style. Later his style became softer and more rhythmic. After his time at Orrefors he worked from 1950 to 1970 in his own studio in Arhus, in addition he was artistic director of Kosta Boda. Lindstrand's work can be recognized by the original, thick shapes of the glass. The designs are also often inspired by the work of Venetian designers.
