Vincent van OSS (Sterksel 1960).


Van Oss's work is reminiscent of Henri Matisse's cut-outs and Jean Arp's shapes. But Van Oss uses a different formal language and a direct painting technique, which is increasingly related to Abstract Expressionism. In terms of design language you see a relationship with 70s design. The work can be traced back to nature and the term 'organic abstract' applies. Bram van Velde and Sigmar Polke emerge as inspiring painters. Van Oss strives to create a clear image and gives the viewer plenty of room to consider what she/he sees. Van Oss mainly paints with acrylic paint and sometimes ink. His work has been exhibited in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the John B. Aird Gallery in Toronto, Canada, among others.
