Willemijn BOUMAN (Rotterdam, August 24, 1956) is a Dutch visual artist and designer.
Bouman was born in 1956 in Rotterdam. She was educated from 1975 to 1980 at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where she graduated in 1980 in monumental design. She makes large colorful paintings in a lyrical abstract style. She also makes woodcuts. Bouman is also a designer and executor of large-scale applied art projects, such as murals and ceramic walls, specializing in functional art in parking garages.
Her studios are located in Otterlo and Nijmegen, but she mostly works in her cave studio in the Turkish region of Cappadocia. She also exhibits regularly in Turkey. The influence she undergoes from Turkish culture and the volcanic landscape of Cappadocia is visible in her work.
