Acton BJORN (Copenhagen 1910 - Copenhagen 1992)
Before becoming an industrial designer, Acton Bjorn studied architecture and urban planning. In 1949 he met Sigvard Bernadotte with whom he set up the first Industrial Design studio in Denmark. In addition to working with metalwork and ceramics, they were also involved in building machines. The products are classically Scandinavian in style and balance between their practical function and their simple sculptural forms. In 1965 Bjorn founded his own practice in Copenhagen. Here he was engaged in the design of household products.
