Alexander CREVECOEUR was born on 21 February 1919 in The Hague. In 1921 the family moves to Laren (nh). In 1941 Alexander moves to Zwolle. He opens a shop there on the Milk Market. In 1958 he and his wife moved to Epe and moved in with his parents-in-law on the Wildforstlaan. In Epe he really starts making pottery. Alexander meets the potter Thera Hofstede-Crull, who then lives in Eerde near Ommen. He practices spinning intensively with her. Alexander makes turned work, building ceramics and also series of tiles from clay that is always red-baked. His and his wife's vision of life is a life of simplicity and good taste. The couple is friends with Jan Voerman, the well-known Hattem landscape painter. His son has also become a ceramist.
