Ben Goëtjes was born on 15 August 1954 in Laren. He can rightly be called a natural talent. At an early age he drew and painted compositions of subjects that inspired him. An autodidact who expresses his own specific style in drawings, paintings and murals. The painter Corstiaan de Vries lived and worked in his parental home, the farm at 6 Krommepad in Laren. It is not impossible that Ben was also inspired by him in his later career as a 'Larens' artist. He is an all-round artist in both painting and what he makes with his hands. He can also paint very realistically and in detail what he sees, such as portraits. What he does not see, he puts on the canvas with images from his head that have an absolutely unique meaning. His clients sometimes have wonderful desires, such as a large wall painting with an exact copy of the entire family around the built-in swimming pool of the client. In addition to painting, Ben Goëtjes has also given advice and contributed to the renovation of the amusement park 'De Efteling', where various figures have been made and renewed by him. Ben Goëtjes is always looking for an innovative style. One gets the special impression that the painting consists of various layers, which may or may not be translucent, painted on top of each other.
