Christa Ehrlich (1903-1995)

Christa Ehrlich was a Viennese artist who was also active as a designer and photographer in the Netherlands. She is best known as a goldsmith and jewelery designer. Ehrlich's style is characterized by geometric main shapes, clean lines and semi-matt polishing. Sometimes she used motifs such as pleats and flowers.
Ehrlich was educated at the Kunstgewerbescule in Vienna and in 1925 she was part of the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels in Paris. Carel Begeer brought her to the Netherlands two years later to design silverware for Van Kempen & Begeer. During her career, Ehrlich was involved as a designer with the KNEB, De Sphinx, the firm Metz & Co and the magazine Wendingen.
