Efraim Milikowski, born 3-4-1947 in Amsterdam, photographer and graphic artist. Education: among others in photography and design (Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam), in screen printing and reprography (Academie Minerva, Groningen) and in metalworking (precision mechanical engineering, Leiden). At the University of Groningen and Amsterdam he studied Art History and Mediterranean Archeology and Prehistory and followed a Postgraduate Course in Geographical Landscape Analysis, by Air Photo Interpretation (ITC, Enschede). The visual work of Efraïm Milikowski, mainly inspired by nature and technology, comprises a combination of photography, (digital) image processing, screen printing (photo-graphics) and design, both two- and three-dimensional. Milikowski is the initiator and co-worker of the Atelier'92 Foundation and co-initiates and organizes projects and exhibitions with and for other visual artists. He edits and writes books and publications, including artist monographs: 'The color of reality' (2002); 'Light and air, wind and water' (2005); 'Toon Wegner, sign and language' (2006); 'The Monumental Work of Zhuang Hong Yi' (2007).
Efraïm Milikowski is the son of the visual artist Riek Milikowski-de Raat (Amsterdam, 1918) and Herman Philip Milikowski (1909-1989), who is known as a sociologist for his dissertation 'Praise of maladjustment'.
