GERO
Gero was a cutlery factory. The factory was founded in 1912 in Zeist and released its products under the brand name Gero. It has been a brand of the Royal Delft Group since 2008.
In 1923 Chris van der Hoef was hired as a designer. He designed cutlery with Art Deco and Bauhaus influences. In 1929 a collaboration with the silversmith Jan Eisenloeffel followed. As far as we know, he probably only designed model 70(0) with knife rests, which was only made in the relatively expensive Gero silver. This model was in production until the end of the 1950s. Other designers, such as Gerrit van der Veen for Beatrix's birth spoon and Andries Copier, who was basically affiliated with the Glasfabriek Leerdam, also provided their services as a designer to Gero.
In 1930 Gero introduced the stainless steel 'Zilmeta', an alloy of nickel, chrome and steel. Because this metal is stain-free, the possibilities for household products are greater (including pans). Rinze Hamstra has been employed as a permanent designer since 1936.
