Hannie Mein, born in 1933, worked as a ceramist. She studied at secondary school and followed an evening course at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Mein is best known for her pottery and unique pieces in a naive, stylized style. In 1988 Mein was involved in the establishment of the Keramisten Noord Nederland Foundation (SKN). Since 2005, the Hannie Mein Art Prize has been awarded to artists from Oost- and Weststellingwerf.
