Helene BRIELS (1954) lives and works in Burghsluis. 1974 study at the Rietveld Academy Amsterdam, specialization in textile design. During her career she worked in various studios and her work has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries. Her works belong to the minimalist art. Her work is subtle, has a clear use of color that seems to give light. The works consist of diamond-shaped or square pieces of paper painted with acrylic paint, which are glued in a square on a white plate. Because the papers are folded, they become small, spatial shapes. As a result, they not only have a front, but also a back and sides. For example, viewed from one side, the work can look like a color gradient in light blue and from the other side as a yellow surface. Halfway through the work, the colors flow into each other like a liquid.
